Ulwazi Primary School receives furniture
Mr Samuel Tsotetsi, school principal, said the school has a shortage of furniture.
Ulwazi Primary School in Thuthukani received furniture from Kaefer Thermal Contracting Services.
The company donated desks and chairs and handed them over on 23 July.
According to Mr Elliot Mhlongo, Kaefer site manager, all companies should take care of the community.
“We have a responsibility to give back to the community,” Mr Mhlongo said.
Mr Samuel Tsotetsi, school principal, said the school has a shortage of furniture.
He said it is not only the pupils, but teachers are also affected.
Mr Tsotetsi appreciated the warm gesture and thanked Mr Sechaba Mosia, Ward 12 councillor, for always attending to them.
The pupils were happy and Thando Ngcobo and Lwazi Sithole, both Grade 7 pupils, thanked Kaefer for the furniture, saying they have contributed to their future.
The company also announced that they will be donating two computers to the school.
“We are going to donate more furniture to other schools as well,” Mr Mhlongo also said.
According to Mr Tsotetsi, the parents built the Grade 7 class.
The class is currently without a ceiling and it also not painted.
Mr Nicholas Selepe, zonal convener of the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco), called on businesses to continue where the parents left off.
He also asked Kaefer to donate paint so that they can paint the newly built classroom and urged companies to upgrade the community.
