Taxi driver out on bail

Mr Tsepang Matloung will appear again in court on 12 counts of culpable homicide on 1 October.

Mr Tsepang Matloung, the taxi driver, who was charged with murder, fraud and reckless driving, will appear again in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on 1 October.

Mr Matloung pleaded not guilty to all charges and the case was remanded for trial.

He faces 12 counts of culpable homicide after 12 occupants died as a result of an accident.

The accident occurred on the road between Standerton and Perdekop on 6 October last year.

The driver apparently skipped a stop and go construction site and collided with an oncoming truck.

Mr Matloung is presently out on bail.

The owners of Spiros Transport, whose truck was involved in the accident, donated R120 000 to the grief-stricken families.
