The police are on the scene and are waiting for the forensic department.

eMBALENHLE – Residents of Extension 17 were shocked by the gruesome discovery of the body of an infant in a drain.

A resident said she was doing laundry when she saw the hand of an infant at 12pm on Tuesday, 18 August.

She summoned the police who came out, but said she must inform the municipality, because they cannot do anything.

“I was so shocked that I could not sleep, because the body was still in the drain.

“We thought the police where going to take the body out.”

Ms Egness Mazibuko, a resident, said it was not the first time that the body of an infant has been found in the drain.

“This is a shame to women.

“We urge the government to intervene and to address this issue in the area.”

The police are on the scene and are waiting for the forensic department.
