Rick cycles for a good cause

His wife, Ms Carolyn Budai, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

Mr Rick Budai is cycling from Nelspruit to Cape Town to raise cancer awareness.

This 50-year-old began his journey on 1 September and plans to complete it on 14 October.

He and his friend, Mr Dave Lasarow, stopped in Standerton at Pick n Pay (one of the sponsors) on 8 September.

They handed out pamphlets with information about cancer to residents.

This was stage 8 of 38 and he will be travelling about 3 500km.

Mr Budai is also raising funds for the Pink Drive during this time.

“I am hoping to raise about R200 000,” Mr Budai said.

His wife, Ms Carolyn Budai, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

Mr Lasarow also lost both his parents to cancer.

He drives behind Mr Budai while he cycles to different towns and blogs about his experiences in all the towns he stops over at.

Mr Budai made his way to Vrede on 9 September and will then move to Harrismith.
