Hercules wins Pitch and Polish’s first round

He worked hard to bring innovation to life.

eMBALENHLE – Mr Hercules Kgaphola won the first round of the Pitch and Polish Competition that was held in Middelburg on Saturday, 29 August.

The 28-years-old walked away with R6 000 for his successful pitch of patenting Fingermate.

His innovation changed the face of everyday shopping which goes with the slogan Bambezela sizofika ekhaya (hold on, we will arrive home).

“I worked hard and had to raise funds to bring this idea to life,” said Mr Kgaphola who will be going to the next round of the competition.

During Pitch and Polish, competitors are given the opportunity to pitch their businesses to the workshop attendees and a panel of expert judges decide whether or not they would invest in their businesses.

One contestant is selected from each town to move to the second round.

Fingermate came first during the start up weekend for entrepreneurs that was held in Tshwane in November last year in collaboration with the Innovation Hub and the South African Black Entrepreneurs Forum Tshwane Youth Business.
