SECUNDA – Ms Nizordinah Sithole (27), a process controller at the Govan Mbeki Municipality’s Department of Technical Service, was selected to participate in an MSc programme at Urban Water and Sanitation, with specialisation in sanitary engineering and water supply engineering.
The programme is for 18 months, beginning on 16 October and will end on 30 April next year in Delft in the Netherlands.
The scholarship is funded by Unesco – IHE and Tshwane University of Technology.
Ms Sithole joined the municipality as an unemployed graduate under National Treasury’s infrastructure Skills Development Grant (ISDG).
The programme is a product of a partnership between the municipality, Rand Water and National Treasury to develop unemployed graduates into fully registered professionals in the area of water and sanitation.
Ms Sithole is one of 120 graduates under the programme managed by the municipality.
The grant is aimed at developing technical skills for local government and also develop professionally registered unemployed graduates.
