Sgt Dhlamini puts Sakhile on the map
Out of the 90 people, 12 were selected to represent the province.
Sgt George Dhlamini is well known for his position as communication officer at the Sakhile Police, but is also a number one pool player in Mpumalanga.
He will be leading a team of 12 members that will represent the province in the South African Police Services (Saps) National Games.
The games, that includes different sporting codes, will be held in Rustenburg from 25 to 30 October.
“My interest in the sport began in 2010 when Saps added it as an official sport on the different sporting code lists,” Sgt Dhlamini said.
“I practice a lot on my own at my parents’ house because there is a pool table there.”
According to him, Saps recently took pool out the sporting codes list and put it back on again.
“They called on all the Saps employees who want to play pool to forward their names.”
He said 180 Saps employees from around the province sent in their names, but only 90 payers competed in a competition in Secunda.
Out of the 90 people, 12 were selected to represent the province.
