Suspect gets bail after shooting spree

The man that embarked on a shooting spree on 25 September in Sakhile was released on bail.

He applied for bail that was granted at his first court appearance on 28 September

The suspect will appear again in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on 26 November.

He faces three charges including attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and discharging a firearm in a public place.

The suspect who was looking for his brother’s vehicle which he thought was stolen, fired the gun at people who were waiting for transport next to Levay’s tavern.

The people fled the scene and Mr Cornelius Lephoto, who is still in hospital, was hit.

According to the police, he sustained serious injuries to his right leg.

The suspect used the firearm of his girlfriend, a police officer, to commit the crime.
