Smart meter war continues
However, the owner of the building said he did not give them permission to install the smart meter
The Lekwa Municipality continues to install smart meters, even after the community marched against it.
Local businesses were left without electricity after the smart meter technicians disconnected the electricity supply on 28 October.
According to the service provider that is installing the meters, the municipality instructed them to install the meter.
However, the owner of the building said he did not give them permission to install it.
Two South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) members stopped the technicians from installing the meter.
As a result, the service provider called the police to intervene because they did not feel safe.
One of the businesses could not provide food to their customers during lunch.
They were also worried that the food could get spoilt if the matter was not dealt with immediately.
The smart meter technicians had a discussion with the owner of the building and they installed the smart meter.
