eMba police officer wounded in skirmish with robbers

Suspect shot dead by police.

eMBALENHLE – A 33-year-old armed robber was shot and killed by the police on 5 November.

It is alleged that the deceased and a friend robbed employees of a funeral parlour of an undisclosed amount of money.

The alleged robbers fled on foot and the police were summoned to the scene.

The police officers saw the two fleeing men and gave chase.

The suspects opened fire at them and an officer was wounded in the left foot.

It is alleged that the police retaliated and one of the suspects was shot in the stomach.

The suspect’s was taken to Evander Hospital where he died on arrival.
The police officer was also taken to the hospital.
