Baby dies unexpectedly

An infant recently died unexpectedly at the hostels in Sakhile.
According to a police officer on duty at the time, he received information about the incident via the police radio.
The officer immediately rushed to the scene to investigate what had happened.
Upon arrival he found the mother of the child and the aunt.
He said the mother told him that she put the baby down after the infant fell asleep.
She claimed that she later went on to check on the baby and noticed that the child was not breathing anymore.
According to the officer, they showed him where the baby was sleeping.
He said the infant had no visible injuries.
They called the ambulance and the paramedics confirmed that the baby had died.
An inquest was opened and Const Dan Nomfenge of the Sakhile Detectives is investigating the case.
