Marongo’s case still in court
The case has been postponed for further investigations
The late Mr Yandisa Marongo’s murder case has been postponed to 2 December.
A suspect appeared again in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on 16 October.
The case has been postponed for further investigations. Mr Yandisa Marongo was last seen on 10 November last year and his body was found on 18 November.
He was the suspended senior legal manager at the Lekwa Municipality.
At the time of his death, he was facing disciplinary hearings for his involvement in the fraudulent sale of the Rooikoppen Taxi Rank.
He was supposed to attend his final hearing on 11 November. It has been almost a year since his decomposing body was found on the R50 Road between Standerton and Leandra, but only one suspect was arrested. The suspect first appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court in July after his arrest in Volksrust in June.
After his arrest, Sgt Gerald Sedibe, media liaison of the provincial police, said the suspect is under witness protection.
The suspect later applied for bail, but it was denied.
