Truck goes up in flames

According to Mr Jabulani Mkhwanazi of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management, four wheels were completely destroyed in the blaze.

A truck transporting a hazardous and highly flammable chemical went up in flames on 13 November.

According to Mr Jabulani Mkhwanazi of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management, four wheels were completely destroyed in the blaze.

According to him, the truck driver said he stopped on the side of the road because one of the tyres in the second trailer was flat.

He called for assistance and while waiting, saw flames from the second trailer.

Mr Mkhwanazi said other motorists stopped and help the driver to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers.

The truck was from Sasol in Secunda travelling to Durban.

No one was injured in the blaze.
