SECUNDA – The South African National Community Theatre Association (Sancta) hosted a 10 minutes play concert at Graceland Casino on Friday, 13 November.
Mr Henning Botha, vice chairman of Sancta and chairman of the Secunda branch, said the aim was to raise the quality, status and profile of the community performing arts.
He then explained the plans for the next boot camp and summer camps to be held in December and January.
Mr Botha said the deadline to submit scripts is the end of November.
The directors of the plays were asked to say the name of the play in one word.
Three plays were presented and there was one winner.
This is War was the winning play and was about solving a problem with a problem.
The horror play, My Blood in Chains, proved that theatre could be just as unsettling and intense.
The national chairman of Sancta, Mr Noel McDonald, and Mr Simon Khumalo from the Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation in Nelspruit attended the event.
