Security guard critical after shooting
Police think the shooting at Old Leslie Mine could have involved Illegal miners.
EVANDER – A Protea Security guard was flown to a hospital in Johannesburg after he was shot in the head near the Old Leslie Mine on Monday, 7 December.
The police said the guard and a colleague were patrolling Shaft 9 when they were ambushed and shot at.
Sgt Sibusiso Mbuli, Evander Police spokesman, said the guard is in a critical condition.
His colleague was unharmed.
“We suspect the shooting could have involved illegal miners, however we are still investigating.”
