Water estimates cause confusion

She denied using that amount of water, saying it was less

Lekwa residents claim that they have been paying more on their water bills because of the estimates of the water meter readings.

They alleged that the Lekwa municipal employees, who are suppose to do the meter readings, do not.

According to residents, the employees estimate how much water the residents use monthly and send out an account.

Ms Almarie Moolman, a resident, said she recently paid R956,29.

She also said the municipal employees did not take the water meter readings at her house.

According to her, the municipality claimed that she used about 28 000 litres of water a month.

She denied using that amount of water, saying it was less.

According to her, they use tap water to bath and buy water for drinking and cooking.
