Secunda municipal gates closed
Local contractors demand to do business with the municipality.
The gates of the Govan Mbeki Municipality in Secunda are closed and the municipality is non operational.
Mr Bheki Kubheka, head of communication and marketing of the municipality, said it is for security purposes.
Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor, is in the council chambers in discussions with local contractors.
The contractors are demanding to see Mr Mmella Mahlangu, municipal manager, to give them answers.
They want to know why the municipality is doing business with people in other provinces, in stead of using locals.
However Mr Mahlangu, is currently in Pretoria. The meeting is still underway.
