Housebreaker shot dead

A suspected housebreaker died after being shot while caught in the act of stealing from a house in Gustav Preller Street in Ermelo at about 10:30 this morning.

Ambulance personell of Mpumalanga Emergency Services were summoned to the scene but the suspected robber was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

According to members of the local neighbourhood watch this was the third time the same house had been broken into in recent times.

Police detectives and forensic experts were on the scene and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
