Grade R pupils of Hlobisa Primary School visited the fire station on 6 May.
Their visit was aimed at learning about the duties of firefighters and also to get fire safety tips such as:
• Not to play with matches
• To avoid burning things
• To avoid playing with electrical appliances.
They proceeded to the Standerton Police Station where they learned more about what police officers do.
The teachers also took the pupils to one of the big supermarkets in town to show them the difference between buying from a tuck shop as compared to a supermarket.
Their last stop was at a restaurant where the pupils were taught how restaurants work.
According to the teachers, some of the children do not get a chance to go to restaurants because their parents are unemployed.
