EVANDER – Three Grade 12 pupils from Evander High School qualified for a one-year orientation contract valued at R60 000 each with a hotel group.
They are Zinhle Dlamini, Natasha van der Merwe and Mariska Swanepoel.
This was after they had taken part in the Mpumalanga Chefs Competition hosted from 11 to 16 July.
Altogether 58 pupils from various Mpumalanga schools entered the competition’s three categories and 10 finalists were chosen for the Siyaya Chef Competition, as well as the advanced chef category.
Only 15 pupils took part in the management category that was introduced this year.
Finalists were selected based on their performances in the preliminary round and their academic performance in mathematics, maths literacy and hospitality studies during the first term.
