Firefighters educate Jeugkrag pupils on fire safety

They also taught the pupils how to handle appliances that can cause a fire

The Department of Fire Rescue and Disaster Management visited Laerskool Jeugkrag on 10 August where the Grade R to Grade 3 pupils were educated about fire safety.

The firefighters explained to the pupils in detail about their work and also taught them how to handle appliances that can cause a fire.

The firefighters showed them how to react when a house is on fire and demonstrated the use of the jaws of life.

Two Grade R pupils dressed-up in the full uniform that the firefighters wear.

Three Grade 1 pupils were given the opportunity to spray with the hose from the fire truck.

The pupils and teachers learnt a lot from the demonstration, saying the men and women from the fire department are true heroes.
