Khuthatso to host Spelling Bee

Only pupils from Grade 4-7 are allowed to enter the competition and they should be living in Leandra.

LEBOHANG – Khuthatso Information Centre will be hosting its first Spelling Bee for Leandra pupils.

Mr Vusizwe Masilela from Khuthatso Information Centre said they are expecting 250 pupils who will be eliminated in three rounds.

He said the Spelling Bee will encourage young people to read books and to learn new words and their meanings.

Only pupils from Grade 4-7 are allowed to enter the competition and they should be living in Leandra.

Mr Masilela said it does not matter where they attend school, but they must be residents of Leandra.

Some schools embraced the initiative and will also assist their pupils to get ready for the competition.

Mr Masilela urged parents to assist their children and those who do not have people to help them, can visit Khuthatso Information Centre where they will get assisted.

He urged individuals and businesses who would like to assist with prizes, to contact the centre at 076 696 5050.

“The prizes should not be in the form of money, but tools that will help young people to learn,” said Mr Masilela.

He said people can donate prizes such as dictionaries, calculators, kids’ laptops, mathematical instruments, Scrabble, Monopoly and any other tool that can help pupils improve academically.

The next challenge will be for the Grade 8-10 pupils.
