Pupils present speeches on various topics

The school choir opened proceedings with a song and thereafter Martin Msibi and Zamazwide Nxumalo took to the stage to deliver motivational speeches.

Stanwest Combined School held a speech evening last Thursday and pupils from Grade 1 to 9 participated.

They presented their speeches on various topics during this annual event.

The school’s pupils have performed well at regional, provincial and national oral competitions in the past.

According to the school, they have been identified as one of the schools with an excellent track record in the annual assessments.

This evening was not short of entertainment, Nozipho Mazibuko performed for the crowd, Snethemba Chaula recited a poem and London and the crew danced.

The school awarded the winners in each grade.

They are:

  • Grade 1 – Sinethemba Mavuso
  • Grade 2 – Uyanda Campbell
  • Grade 3 – Junior Mofokeng
  • Grade 4 – Siyamthanda Mthembu
  • Grade 5 – Thandolwethu Cele
  • Grade 6 – Sphesihle Mshibe
  • Grade 7 – Xoliswa Sibande
  • Grade 8 – Sinesipho Xamlashe
  • Grade 9 – Mirriam Bibi

The overall winners, Uyanda Campbell (Foundation Phase), Thandolwethu Cele (Intermediate Phase) and Sinesipho Xamlashe

(Senior Phase) also received prizes.
