Kinross Police catch robbers

Police commended the community for the information that led to the successful arrest.

KINROSS – Capt Gerhard Elmes from Kinross Police Station sent out an audio recording on Thursday, 10 November to warn residents about armed suspects on the loose.

This was after a woman opened a case of robbery that took place at about 6pm on Thursday 10 November.

She said a neighbour knocked at her door and after hearing her voice, she was convinced it was her neighbour.

When she opened the door however, three men came out of nowhere and pushed the neighbour inside.

They held the complainant at gunpoint and demanded money.

She gave them the money she had and bank cards.

The robbers ordered her to take off her ring and then fled.

A resident went to Kinross Police Station on Friday, 11 November and tipped off the police about a man who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police searched the man’s house and found an unlicensed firearm.

They interviewed the suspect who confessed he was involved in a house robbery the previous day.

He took the police to the other suspects where the police found one of the bank cards stolen during the previous day’s robbery.

The two suspects are from Afghanistan outside Kinross.

Police commended the community for the information that led to the successful arrest.
