Tornado seen above Secunda

Although tornadoes are not a regular occurrence, one was also witnessed over Standerton last year.

SECUNDA – Residents of Secunda were shocked to see a tornado form above the town late in the afternoon on Sunday, 29 January.

The cloud formation that initially looked like smoke spiralling from behind a cooling tower at Sasol, soon took on the familiar vortex shape and then turned into the weather phenomenon.

Although tornadoes are not a regular occurrence, one was also witnessed over Standerton (50km south of Secunda) last year.
