Dimpho flies the Standerton flag high
This Rosebank College student is no stranger to a pageant, she has won three in the past
The 18-year-old Dimpho Mnisi wants to put Standerton on the map by winning the Zee World Miss Teen Commonwealth South African Pageant.
This Rosebank College student is no stranger to pageants, she has won three in the past.
“I am very passionate about modelling, I did my first pageant when I was six years old at Hlolenyatha Pre-School and was crowned the queen and from that moment, I knew that this was the path I have to follow,” Dimpho said.
She won her second pageant which was a street pageant that a woman from her neighbourhood organised for the girls when she was in Grade 5.
Dimpho was crowned Miss Laerskool Jeugkrag when she was in Grade 7 and also named the most versatile girl in that year.
In that same year she was the head girl of the school, a moment she said she will never forget.
However, Dimpho was not just a pageant girl, but also did well academically and in extra-mural activities.
“I got my first award in Grade 3 for best reader and held that title until Grade 7,” she said.
She sang in the choir, played netball, hockey and was an athlete.

“I have to say, back in the days, my athletics skills were on par,” she said.
Dimpho is a firm believer in God and lives each day to worship Him.
She said choosing God as her Lord and saviour was by far the best decision she ever made in her life.
“There is no greater love than the love of God, it is unconditional and I see the hand of the Lord upon my life each and every day and will be eternally grateful to Him.”
This family-orientated young woman described her family as her support structure and shoulder to cry on.
She said they still call her everyday to check how she is doing in the big city.
As a Zee World Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa Pageant finalist her duties include raising a R4 900 sponsorship for her journey to the crown.
The finalists must also raise funds or products for charity and the charity work is due on 20 April.
The aim of the Commonwealth pageants is to empower women of all ages with a platform to bring sustainable change and to become charity and culture ambassadors within South Africa and internationally.
The goal is to bring change through projects which focus primarily on social upliftment and to create a platform for the finalists to achieve their own goals and dreams.
Ms Anel de Swardt-Strydom is the director of the pageant.

The pageant will be televised on 29 April on the Zee World channel on Dstv.
“I entered the Zee World Miss Teen Commonwealth pageant to serve as the voice of many young girls.
“I want to use this platform to inspire young girls through pageantry,” she said.
Dimpho’s long-term goal is to begin a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that will focus on young and underprivileged girls.
She wants to create the platform to help young girls get a good education because the children of a nation are its future, hence she feels she needs to invest in their future.
“Through the help of God, sponsorship and investments, I can indeed create the opportunity for poor young girls who are brimming with intelligence, to receive better education and have their intelligence sharpened.”
