Two new members inducted at Lions Club

The newly inducted Ms Paulina Britz is the first woman to be a member of the Standerton Lions Club

Two new members were inducted at the Standerton Lions Club on 2 March, making the total number of members 24.

There are currently 14 men in the club and nine women in the Willows Branch.

However, the newly inducted Ms Paulina Britz is the first woman to be a member of the Standerton Lions Club.

Mr Bernd Gerhard, Lion District Governor, inducted Ms Britz and Mr Wesley Rekker.

As members of the club they both received certificates and pins.

Mr Peter Daniel, who is both Ms Britz and Mr Rekker’s sponsor, also received certificates and pins.

This is a way of recognising him for initiating the membership process.

His responsibility as a sponsor is being a mentor to both of them until they are able to function at all levels.

The club also awarded a certificate of appreciation in recognition of their excellent service and support to the community to Mr Jannie Kasselman of Kasselman Security Services.

According to Mr Donovan Henri, President of the Standerton Lions Club, clubs are globally on a membership drive to improve service delivery in their communities.

He said they can only do that if they have enough people to share the load.

“To the new members, welcome to the fold,” Mr Henri also said.

According to him, as with anything in life the more you put in, the more you can expect in return.

He said they are excited to grow and look forward to the new members’ particular skills and ideas in the club.

“In turn we endeavour to create an environment for you to grow in service and leadership and I wish you the very best.” Mr Henri said.
