SECUNDA – Yet another successful, but emotional Cansa Cosmos Relay for Life was held on Saturday, 4 March.
This year’s event took place at Sasol Club.
No one could keep back the tears during the Luminaria ceremony as candles were lit in memory of those that has lost loved ones to cancer.
The Caring Angels team was sponsored by Graceland and received R10 for every lap they walked.
At the end of the relay they made R12 500.
Mr Jimmy Meintjies is a cancer survivor and gave his testimony during the cancer survivors function at the Cansa Relay.
The Govan Mbeki Municipal mayor, Ms Florah Maboa-Boltman, gave a speech and also cut the ribbon to officially open the relay.
In her speech she said: “Your pain is my pain and let us all join to help and win the fight against cancer.”
There was music and entertainment throughout the night and teams did not stop walking until the end of the relay.
