S S Mashayisa Primary School in Lebohang praised the Ward 2 councillor, Mr Themba Mrajane, for donating school uniforms to learners recently.
Mr Mrajane donated various items, including shoes, school jerseys and shirts to 28 learners.
The school said the community leaders need people such as Mr Mrajane who always remember the needy, especially children.
Mr Sipho Mtsweni, principal, was sceptical when Mr Mrahane came to the school and spoke about the initiative, because people often make empty promises.
“I am happy that our councillor has fulfilled his promises and managed to put a smile on the face of the needy children.
“We hope he will continue with the good work.”
Mr Mtsweni thanked the school-based support team that played a huge role in identifying the learners who needed the donations.
Mr Mrajane said this was his way of giving back to the community and of encouraging learners to stay in school.
“I am humble that I managed to do what I always wanted to do.
“This is not for the last time and I will also go to other schools to help with the little I have.
“I am calling on those who are willing, to join me to help the needy.”
