Preschoolers show mettle at Day Care Centre Games

Children from the ages of two to five years old participated in various sporting activities.

Daycare centres around Msukaligwa came together at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium last Friday to do battle in order to be crowned the best daycare centre in the area.

Hosted by the Department of Social Development (DSD) as part of their Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme,

These included sack jump, potato spoon, feet tie and relay, to name just a few.

“We decided to have these games as a way for the staff and children in daycare centres around Msukaligwa to meet one another and play sports as we believe sport brings people together. What better way than to have the children do fun activities to test their mental and physical strength,” said DSD social worker Sibusiso Masuku.

This comes as DSD celebrates Social Development Month, which is October.

The children showed their mettle and resilience with Vulinqondo Daycare Centre walking off with the best centre bragging rights.

All the children were declared winners on the day and received gifts from DSD.

The next games will be on 3 November with more centres from around Gert Sibande scheduled to participate.
