Hope Home Based Centre provides a safe haven for orphans
The Hope Home Based Centre has been running for the past 15 years and is a safe haven for orphans in and around the Kinross Afghanistan area.
Caregivers at the Hope Home Based Centre are going the extra mile for the community.
This centre has become a life line for those in need of support and care.
The Hope Home Based Centre has been running for the past 15 years and is a safe haven for orphans in and around the Kinross Afghanistan area.
The centre receives a monthly stipend from the Department of Health, but it is not enough for the caregivers to go beyond the call of duty and they often use their own money.
They run a soup kitchen where fresh soup is served to the sick, orphans and child-headed households.
The caregivers also go from house to house to encourage the sick to go for their clinic visits and to finish their treatment.
Child-headed homes are offered support and counselling to assist them with coping with their circumstances.
The centre’s building was burned down during a strike in the area two years ago and they were relocated to an area where they experience many problems.
They need a toilet, among others, because they are currently using the neighbour’s toilet.
The project manager, Ms Millicent Mbola, said the centre is close to her heart and she praised the caregivers for the effort they put in to ensure the smooth running of the centre.
“We are doing our best to ensure the people in our community enjoy great quality of life.”
“I have such an amazing and dedicated team.”
The centre is looking forward to starting their own vegetable garden behind the centre and would appreciate donations for the fencing around the garden.
“With the garden we will be able to teach people the importance of planting and how it can sustain the needy.”
