MEC encourages locals to love their schools

They also want to ensure that when schools re-opened, they were in a good state for teaching and learning to take place from the first period.

Ms Reginah Mhaule, MEC of the Department of Education, visited Vukanini Primary School on Monday, 15 January as part of the Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena ( Love your school) Campaign.

Ms Mhaule, Ms Flora Maboa-Boltman, executive mayor of Govan Mbeki Municipality, and a team of volunteers participated in cleaning up, painting and fixing broken windows and doors at the school.

The campaign was launched by the department in 2009 to mobilise and encourage communities and other stakeholders to have pride in their schools by volunteering their time and skills to improve the ambiance of schools.

They also want to ensure that when schools re-opened, they were in a good state for teaching and learning to take place from the first period.
