Women rescue dog that fell into a manhole
A waging tail and a pair of puppy eyes that lit up at the knowledge that help is at hand, are the only thanks needed for Ms Chantae Elliott, a volunteer at the Highveld Ridge SPCA.
A wagging tail and a pair of puppy eyes that lit up at the knowledge that help is at hand, are the only thanks needed for Ms Chantae Elliott, a volunteer at the Highveld Ridge SPCA.
Ms Elliott and a co-worker, Ms Eliza Joythe, a field inspector at the SPCA, rescued a Boerbull bitch that had fallen into a manhole in Ext 22 at about 4pm on Saturday, 17 February.
The large, brown dog seemed to have fallen into the uncovered manhole on the same day that she was rescued.
She was discovered by chance when Ms Michelle Radyn heard the dog’s yelps.
“The field with the open manhole is behind my yard in Piet Slabbert Street.
“I heard her cries by chance while we were having a braai outside with our friends.
“She is very lucky, because we do not often spend time in that part of the yard,” Ms Radyn said.
