A security guard was shot dead on Monday, 26 February near Evander Gold Mine.
It is alleged that the deceased was patrolling the area with a colleague when unknown suspects fired shots at them.
Sgt Sibusiso Mbuli, police spokesman, said: “They pointed a firearm at the guard who was driving, and demanded cell phones.

“The driver said he did not have one whereupon the suspects forced him to the back of the bakkie and assaulted him and shot him dead.”
