Mr Linda Dhlamini, Lekwa Mayor, was recalled by the Regional Executive Committee (REC) of the ANC on 18 March.
Mr Muzi Chirwa, Gert Sibande District Executive Mayor, announced the decision at the municipal chambers.
“We have taken a decision to recall honourable Mr Linda Dhlamini along with the troika,” Mr Chirwa said.
The troika consists of Ms Harriet Khotha, Speaker, and Ms Mapaseka Mollo, Chief Whip.

This comes days after Municipal Manager, Ms Gugu Mhlongo-Ntshangase, was put on special leave by the ANC REC.
The decision is amid the protest by local business people who alleged gross corruption and maladministration.
