A large part of Secunda, including the CBD, is once again without electricity.
The excitement yesterday, 6 April that all the electrical faults in town were finally repaired after weeks of power failures, transistors exploding or burning out and cable theft, was short lived.
The electricity has been off since 3am in a large part of town, stretching from the Secunda Mall and Pannevis Street to Langenhoven Street, the Rondekerk and Danie Theron Street and back to the CBD.
A message was sent out early this morning from the Govan Mbeki Municipality’s call centre to warn Zello users to beware the power outage.
According to Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA councillor, the municipality’s work team informed councillors that the connection at Kruik, – the source of great headaches last week after cables were stolen in this area – is now wet due to water filtering through to the surface.

The team is working on the problem at this moment.
Residents are asked not to phone the call centre as they will not be giving out reference numbers.
