Contract worker appears in court today for theft inside Sasol

Alleged thief appears in court today for laptops and car radio stolen at Sasol Secunda

SECUNDA – A man who was allegedly working as a contract worker in Sasol, will be appearing in court today in connection with theft inside the Sasol operations.

According to Capt Bettina Zondo, Secunda police spokesman, a motorist parked his vehicle in a parking area and went to work inside the plant as usual.

He was later informed that his car had been broken into. He went to check and discovered that his car radio had been stolen.

Sasol Security personnel were alerted and they began patrolling the area. They spotted a man who is working for a contractor carrying a bag.

They stopped and searched him. In his bag they found a car radio and a laptop that were reported stolen. He was arrested.

During the questioning he revealed that he had already stolen five laptops.

The police were called in and interrogated the people who bought the alleged stolen laptops and were told that the laptops were already sent to Mozambique.

The alleged thief was arrested and is appearing in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court for theft and theft out of motor vehicle.
