Power still off in some areas

Govan Mbeki municipal team is waiting for machine to pick up cable faults

Electricity in most parts of Secunda has been restored, however some areas are still without electricity.

Some residents have been without electricity since Saturday, 14 April.

Govan Mbeki municipal workers fixed most areas already, however the machine used to pick up faults on cables, was not available today.

“Apparently there are still four faults on the cables in the affected areas,” said Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA councillor.

They worked in other parts today and residents in the areas of Danie Theron, Coen Brits, Moffat and Hodgson Streets now have electricity again.

Areas still affected are the areas around Dr Raman’s consulting rooms, Rothman Street, Van Eck Street and the area around Hoërskool Oosterland.

Local businesses pitched in and helped the municipality by providing the necessary equipment to fix the electricity supply.
