Croucamps want to help build a new community at Terra Nova Retirement Village
Once the development of the first phase is completed and the residents have settled in, they will benefit from several amenities not easily found elsewhere.
TRICHARDT – Mr Hennie Croucamp (62) and his wife, Jacqueline, can hardly wait to move into their new home at the Terra Nova Retirement Village.
In fact, they were the first to sign the buyer’s contract and are so smitten with the exciting plans for the retirement village, that Mr Croucamp is now also actively marketing and showing the houses to prospective clients on behalf of Seeff Properties.
“Most people dream of retiring next to the sea and many do just that, but I have also heard of the regrets of moving away from everything that is known to them to settle in an area where they do not know anyone. I love the idea of retiring where I am surrounded by the people and the things dear to me.
“If you replant a tree it will die. Leave it where it is planted, and it will grow and flourish,” said Mr Croucamp.
The couple met in Secunda, were married in 1981 and have remained here since. Mr Croucamp is a former mechanical supervisor. He had a heart attack last year and is thankful for being given a second chance on life.
“I believe this is my calling to help build a new community for those of us older than 50. I feel this is history in the making and I am looking forward to be living right here.”
Mr Croupcamp explained that buyers will become title deed holders and will therefore be full owners of their property as opposed to many retirement concepts where the property belongs to a person only until that person dies and then that property returns to the complex. At Terra Nova, the units remain the title deed holder’s property until it is resold.

Once the development of the first phase is completed and the residents have settled in, they will benefit from several amenities not easily found elsewhere.
This includes a frail-care facility and 24 hour medical help and access to a staff nurse and doctors. The hospital will be equipped to support ill residents and for example those recovering from surgery. Residents will thus no longer have to travel to and fro between home and hospital in the city to visit an ailing partner, but merely have to go visit that person in the hospital on the premises.
Another exciting concept that is included in the levies of the village, is access to meals prepared by a qualified chef. Residents will have options available for the number of meals they want prepared per month. This eases the worries that some elderly people will go hungry because they are too frail to cook for themselves.
Other benefits also include garden services, a park and areas for grandchildren to play when they come visit, a gym and hair salon for the residents and a communal lounge, library and hall for social events and large family visits.
“We will also not have to suffer with load shedding as the complex has its own generators. And a major bonus is the security that comes with electric fencing, CCTV cameras and gate guards. ”
