What began as a need to fix their own street in Everest Park that was riddled with potholes, blossomed into a movement.

Messrs Ntokozo Vilakazi, Suprise Nkosi and Thulani Msibi and Ms Lindiwe Vilakazi came up with the idea of fixing the roads and began on 20 February.

More residents joined them after seeing the results and the group now has more than 10 members.

They are regular faces in the streets of Wesselton, fixing potholes in Nomdeni (Autumn Ridge), Thusiville and Tembisa.

Their aim is to fix the main routes going into Wesselton where the roads are severely dilapidated.

Father’s Moustache handed over the equipment comprising protective overalls, protective boots, protective spectacles, protective gloves, reflectors and brand-new shovels.

The gesture by Father’s Moustache was not only to assist the members of the group, but to continue the Reclaiming Ermelo movement by working with the community in a way that benefits all the road users.

Reclaiming Ermelo is a movement formed by Wesselton youth to return Ermelo to the town that it used to be.

Father’s Moustache hopes this act will encourage other stakeholders in and around Msukaligwa to support and sponsor such community projects in the future.
