Councillor Mancy Ndoda in trouble again

Ms Mancy Ndoda said her critics are out to tarnish her image.

eMBALENHLE – Residents’ views of Ms Mancy Ndoda, Ward 20 councillor, left her furious.

She was put on the spot by Mandela Section residents last week who told the Members of Legislature that she was not doing her job.

“We have a big problem in Mandela Section and our councillor is of no help,” said a resident.

“She hardy calls community meetings and when she is confronted, she goes into a fighting mood.

Ms Ndoda beats residents with a hammer and we urge the leadership to look into the matter.”

Residents wrote a letter to Mr Nhlakanipho Zuma, the municipal speaker, in which they complained about Ms Ndoda and asked him to intervene, but to no avail.

Other locals came to Ms Ndoda’s defense and said the previous speakers got personal and were hooligans.

“What these people are saying about the councillor is not true.

“She does call meetings, but most residents don’t come and when they do, they do not listen to her.

“She has not been given a chance to do her job.”

The controversy surrounding Ms Ndoda began long before she became a councillor when she was apparently involved in helping residents to invade land in Marikana Section.

In April last year angry residents of Marikana Section marched to the police station to open a fraud case against her.

They alleged that she was demanding residents to pay R215 per shack during the invasion of the land and claimed it was going to be paid to the lawyer when Govan Mbeki Municipality want to evict them.

The angry residents blocked roads and burned tyres near her home at the time.

Soon after, two cases of assault were opened against her, but she won the cases in the Evander Magistrate’s Court.

In the first case a resident accused Ms Ndoda’s family of assaulting and beating him with a hammer. She was accused in another case of assaulting a resident who was apparently dating her boyfriend.

Ms Ndoda said the allegations labelled against her were untrue and were aimed at tarnishing her image.

“I try my best to serve my ward to the best of my ability.

“Those who are bringing these allegations against me are the ones who cause disrepute in my ward and I have reported them to my leaders.

“I will not allow them to discourage me and will continue to serve my people.

“They tried to fight me in the court and failed, now they are launching a smear campaign against me.”
