Sasol warms the winter for vulnerable people

Sasol hands out close to 2 000 blankets.

SECUNDA – Sasol and partners hosted the Winter Warmer Drive at the Lillian Ngoyi Centre on Friday, 8 June.

This initiative formed part of the newly formed Govan Mbeki CSR Forum.

Ms Sizakele Masilela is from Sasol’s communications department and said the Sasol Winter Warmer Drive aims at making the harsh Highveld winter a bit more bearable for the most vulnerable in the society in the Govan Mbeki Municipal area.

Sasol partnered with SNC LAVALIN, M&S, Proconics, Fempower, MegChem, OTB, PDPS, Sanitech and Prommac to make this project possible.

“Sasol employees, through Sasol for Good, the company’s in-house employee volunteering programme, donated to this worthy cause,” said Ms Masilela.

“In the past, Sasol’s contributions went towards assisting orphans and other vulnerable children, as well as senior citizens in the Govan Mbeki Municipal area.”

According to Ms Masilela, this year the campaign is bigger than last year due to the participation of other companies that are also members of the Govan Mbeki CSR Forum.

The essential items donated included non-perishable food, toiletries, blankets, beanies, scarves and gloves.

Employee volunteers from the GMM CSR Forum prepared a soup kitchen for homeless people and handed out nearly 2 000 blankets.
