[UPDATE – Burst water pipe in Secunda] Residents will have water soon

Municipal workers work on pipe issues at Sasol Recreation Club to provide water for whole Secunda.

[UPDATE] After Mr Louis Trichardt removed a beehive in the field next to Nelson Mandela Drive earlier today, municipal workers moved to the Sasol Recreation Club to work on water problems there.

According to Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA Councillor, the workers said the burst water pipe in Nelson Mandela Drive is a big issue that will take long to fix.

They decided to pay attention to the problem at the Sasol Recreation Club and open the ring feed there to provide water for all parts of Secunda.

The problems at the club began four weeks ago when a contractor, appointed by cell phone network, damaged water pipes while they were digging to lay new fibre cables for internet networks.

According to Ms Chamberlain, municipal workers and the contractor are working on fixing these pipes.

The burst water pipe in Nelson Mandela Drive was picked up when a resident who walks around the duck pond daily, saw the water levels were increasing and more water than usual was flowing into the duck pond.

He alerted Ms Chamberlain who contacted the municipality and advised them to begin looking for the burst pipe at the duck pond.

They discovered the bee hive this morning when they found the burst pipe and wanted to begin working on it.
