Two Sakhile serial rapists convicted and sentenced

Morena faced 11 counts of rape and one count of kidnapping and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each per count of rape and five years for kidnapping.

Secunda Regional Court convicted and sentenced Thulani Khumalo (25) and Morena Kgaba (30) of Sakhile on 30 August on multiple counts of rape, kidnapping and assault with grievous bodily harm.

Morena faced 11 counts of rape and one count of kidnapping and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each per count of rape and five years for kidnapping.

The sentence in count two will run concurrently with the sentence in count one.

Khumalo will serve 20 years direct imprisonment on 14 counts of rape, two counts of kidnapping and one count of assault with grievous bodily harm.

The presiding officer ordered the sentence in count 2 and 3 to run concurrent with the sentence in count 1.

According to Sakhile and Standerton Police communications officers, Const Duduzile Zwane and Capt Fanie Nhlabathi, the victims ranged between 14 and 15 years.
