The Organised Crime Unit from the National Head Office, Pretoria Hawks, Benoni K9 Unit and nature conservation personnel arrested two suspects in connection with possession of rhino horns in Standerton.
The suspects were apprehended on 20 September where the rhino horns were kept for safety purposes.
One unlicensed firearm (38 Special) with five rounds, along with the horns were recovered.
According to information, the suspects are not from Standerton.
A reliable source close to the investigation, said the suspects allegedly wanted to carry out a transaction with four potential buyers, who came from different parts of the country.
The estimated value of the rhino horns is R7,6-million.
Both suspects were detained at the Standerton Police Station.
