Police shut down three non-compliant tuck-shops in Kinross
Constable Cebisile Mlambo said the operation was launched in response to ongoing complaints from residents.
Police shut down three non-compliant tuck-shops in Marikana and Ext 25 on October 7.
The Kinross SAPS, alongside Govan Mbeki Municipality law enforcement, the Department of Health, and the local Community Policing Forum (CPF), conducted a joint compliance operation within the Kinross policing precinct.
Officials inspected business licences, trading certificates, and product expiry dates.
During the operation, authorities discovered expired food, including bread that should have been removed from the shelves in September.
The non-compliant goods were immediately confiscated.
Kinross police spokesperson Constable Cebisile Mlambo said the operation was launched in response to ongoing complaints from local residents about non-compliant businesses.

“Our community often complains about tuck-shops selling expired food products that are dangerous to their health.
“We decided to conduct the operation and saw exactly what the community is complaining about.
“Because some of these shops are operating without permits, the municipal by-law officers closed them down,” said Mlambo.
She warned that authorities will continue to regularly run similar law-enforcement operations to ensure full compliance in the area.
Mlambo said that in their next operation, they need to involve the Home Affairs Department to verify whether these tuck-shop owners have valid permits to be in the country.
