Hoërskool Oosterland hosts TED Talk for businessmen and learners

Businessmen's entry fees will help to sponsor learners' entry fees.

SECUNDA – Hoërskool Oosterland will hold a TED Talk event for their business study, economics, accounting and consumer study learners on Thursday, 18 October.

Ms Liné de Vries, spokesman of the school, said business as usual has become business unusual lately and to help their learners think and plan how business could tackle difficult issues in the environment, the school has invited well-known businessmen to share some secrets in short 10-minute TED talks.

The aim is to inform learners and to provide the opportunity to ask questions, give feedback on their experiences and get new ideas and information about entrepreneurship.

Tickets for the event cost R50 per person and the event begins at 8.30am.Mr Melvin Jones of Proconics will be the first speaker and will talk about motivated and inspired people.

Mr Jacques Basson of Klipkouers will talk about creative marketing and social media, and Mr Burn Shield of Rosslee & Sonland will talk about entrepeneural thinking.

The same event will be hosted for the community on Wednesday, 17 October at 6pm at NTT Nissan and tickets cost R300 per person and include dinner.

R100 of the R300 will be used to sponsor the event for the learners.
