BETHAL – The police received a complaint about a theft at the Kuze Kuse Tarven.
Police said the tavern manager alleged that he opened the business premises at 10am and that everything was in order, including the safe.
It is alleged that he went to the bottle store and left two of his employees to clean the tavern.
A few minutes later he checked the CCTV cameras and noticed an unknown man forcefully opening the small safe and stealing airtime and money.
The estimated value of the stolen airtime is R600 and R500 was stolen.
“The complainant showed the police the footage. They recognised the suspect who had been arrested for other crimes previously.
“Investigating officer Det/Const Nontando Mosia and Det/ Const Themba Maseko traced the suspect and arrested him.”
Police urged business owners and managers to look out for suspicious people and not to leave money where criminals could get access to it.
