Sewage is still overflowing near duck pond in Secunda

Heavy rains will improve existing sewage problems

SECUNDA – Residents are concerned about sewage spillages near the Duck Pond at McCorkindale Street as it has been overflowing on a weekly basis for about a year now.

Mr Tim Denny, DA Councillor, said what is a great concern is that the sewage flows into the stream below the Duck Pond and eventually into Hammerkop Dam and Lake Umuzi.

“People found dead fish in those dams and it smells and that is a sign that the water is contaminated,” said Mr Denny.

“We want to notify the people to be careful of the water quality below the Duck Pond.

“There is a constant sewage flow.

“Obviously when the big rain comes, the sewage problem will be better.

“We are working with the municipality to find a solution.”
