Lerato Nkosi from Lake Chrissie Secondary triumphant at DSD schools debate

Lerato Nkosi will participate against other winners of the seven sub-districts of the Gert Sibande District Municipality.

Five secondary schools from Msukaligwa converged at the Breyten community hall on Wednesday, 19 September to participate in a debate hosted by the Department of Social Development (DSD).

KwaDela, BEE Maseko, Lake Chrissie, Masizakhe and Ubuhlebolwazi Secondary Schools sent five of their best orators to tackle a topic that the learners experience in their lives, including bullying and peer pressure.

A panel of judges came from various sectors of the community, including the Department of Justice, National Prosecuting Authority and the South African Police Service.

The overall winner will participate against other winners of the seven sub-districts of the Gert Sibande District Municipality.

That debate took place on Friday, 21 September in Elukwatini in the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality.

Lake Chrissie Secondary School from Chrissiesmeer emerged victorious and were crowned the winners.

A learner from the school, Lerato Nkosi, stood out from her peers and was the overall winner and will represent Msukaligwa.

“We thank the teachers and schools for making this competition successful. The learners did great and we hope the winner will be triumphant in the next stage and fly the Msukaligwa flag high,” said Mr Sibusiso Mnisi-Masina, organiser.
